Bookshelf Update

I wanted you all to see the finished bookshelf first. They were solid white. I kept seeing how people paint the backs of bookshelves, so I started thinking of things I could do. First I thought about paper. Like scrap book paper. They have such pretty prints. And I didn't after all want it to be a permanent thing. In case I changed my mind. But while looking at paper I decided it wasn't the way to go. I also thought of wallpaper. Which would be very cool. But I would need such a little bit. So while shopping at the 99cent store, I found this shelving paper. Contact paper!! And for only $4.00 got 4 rolls. Enough to do the project. Here is the begining.
It went on really easy.
Then I added back all the books and nick nacks.
I had two of them to do. I'm so pleased with how they turned out! And always with great color!

Lovely Day!!

I woke up this morning to the most lovely day. Just had to get outside. Even though I had lots of house cleaning to do. I couldn't resist taking pictures of all my roses and flowers in bloom. Mother nature is busting out all over. The birds are all out building nests.
Buddy was pretty excited to get outside also. He sure did want those birds.
Look how big my hydrangea is! It's full of buds. Can't wait till it starts to bloom!!
There is something so calming about working in the yard. Getting your hands muddy and watering. The patio just felt great. Here is another picture of my old bread rack that I spray painted.
I can't really sit out on my front bench now that the ground cover has taken it over. But I haven't had the heart to trim it all back. I guess I should. What do you think?
Later in the day I BBQ'd. All the neighbor's were out enjoying the lovely evening. And always with great color!!

Bread Rack Redo!!

So today was finally sunny and beautiful enough to work on my Bread Rack - Potting Rack. I had gone to Home Depot and picked up Rubbed Bronze spray paint. Also some new flowers. After cleaning off the Bread Rack. Which was a charming brass and hunter green. Blah! I started the painting.
What a difference the paint made. It looks like a rod-iron piece now. I love it. I placed it near the enterance of my home. I'm still playing with placement of old things I had already. I also still need more plants or flowers. But it feels like a whole new piece. I like the bright green pots and silver can's with the daisy's!
So remember to not throw out some of your old piece's. Paint does wonders!! And always with great color!!!

Vintage Patio Chairs!!

I finally got the time to paint my Vintage patio chairs! If you remember I found them. They were on the curb to be picked up. Here is a picture of them when I found them.
I had to sand them down. Which I'm not the best at. But I tried to get them smooth.
Then I covered out back the ground with a plastic tarp. I turned them upside down and painted the back and bottom first. I decided to use a happy apple green.
I turned them right side up and sprayed painted the seat and back and arms.
I let them dry overnite. I spray painted the tubeing white. It was hard to do and I tried to mask off the green.
I had to turn them upside down to paint the bottoms. It was super hard not to get white on green. And I am no expert!!! But I'm happy with how it went.
Then Waa Laa they were done!!! I'm real happy with how they turned out.
Remember don't be afraid of great color!!!

Beautiful Cool Day

To day I awoke to sunshine. Yesterday was cloudy and grey all day. I'm so happy on my day off that it is beautiful out. This was the first day in a while that I didn't need to rush out and do anything. Woo Hoo!! So after eating breakfast and cutting some coupons, I decided to go on a bike ride. I love my beach cruiser!! She's a beauty!

So off I rode down the street. The cool breeze blowing in my hair. I rounded the corner and decided to pay one of my neighbors a visit. He decided to ride along. And off we started again. Waving at neighbors and stopping to say a friendly hello. As we came to the last street. I saw "them". Two beautiful vintage metal chairs. Out on the curb for large item pick up. Our trash company will pick up large items once in a while.

I went up to the homes front door and knocked. But no one was home. I wanted to be sure it was ok that I took them. Soon after that, here comes the junk truck. They didn't mind at all if we picked them up. Woo Hoo!!!

I love them. A little TLC and they will look great. There is nothing wrong with them, but a little rust and dirt. My son wasn't as happy with my find. But I think they are just not his style. And he hasn't seen them after I clean them and paint them.

Any suggestions on colors?? Maybe a Apple Green????

After my find. My son and his new fiance and I went out to lunch. We visited a little shop and Melanie got these crazy glasses. With a built-in mustache. She's so funny!!! She is going to pull them out at her next work meeting. hahaha

Here is a picture of the happy couple.

Hope everyone has a beautiful, relaxing day. And always with great color!!!

Maybe I'll just take a nap. And always with great color!

Topiary!!!!

I love love love Topiary. But usually they run kind of high for my budget. I had these pots to my entry that I wanted something new in. And the dead Halloweenish plants weren't cutting it. So since my back was somewhat good today. I took off to Walmart. Not that I thought I could walk the whole store. But enough to pick up a few things. I think the drive over to Walmart hurt me more. UGH!!! Anywho, I walked into the nursery section and tah dah!!!!!! TOPIARY!!!! Woweee Soweee!!! I picked out two. After coming back home, they were my first project. It's been so beautiful lately. Warm for a November. So here is the finished picture. I'm very pleased at how they look. I just hope I can keep up the shapes.
So everyone have a good weekend. Get outside and take deep breaths of the beautiful day. And always with great color.

Yeah Finished!

Finished the Camo lap throw today. Just in time. Almost ran out of yarn. I like the way it turned out. Buddy seems to like it too. It has given me something to do while my back is getting better. I threw it out about two weeks ago. Don't know what I did. But I guess sometimes we just move wrong. Sometimes I sure hate getting older. And dang it I had a birthday right in the middle of a painful week. Didn't help the getting old feeling. Oh well, I'm getting better slowly. I guess life just throws bumps in the road sometimes. Here's a smooth spot. My sister (Dancing in the Dark) gave me this beautiful yarn bag. I love it!!!! It's green!! She also hand spun me some yarn. I need to make my next project something special!! She's so dear to me, My bestest friend! Here is a pic of it!
I also got a great gift from my daughter. A beautiful wall decoration. Words that are like stickers. But when applied they appear almost to be painted on. I know these words speak the truth. Even though sometimes we don't agree on things. I hope she will remember that Families are everything and deserve respect. I placed this above my buffet in the dinning room. What do you think?
Always with great color!

Looks like Fall!!

Wow it's sure turning into Fall. I love it!! Got out all the Fall things that I have. Can't seem to pass up anything leaf or pumpkin. I'm not to into the scary Halloween things. I like things that can last through Thanksgiving. Buddy likes all the decor. So I thought I would make a blanket throw for my livingroom. I needed a project. And I picked a couple different greens (of course)and a carmel color. My son came home and said "Why are you making a camo blanket?" Ha ha ha I didn't even think of that when I bought the yarn. But I guess it kind of looks like that. Anywho, I love it.
So get out your tea cups and mugs and start to drink warm apple cider and hot chocolate. Fall is here!!! And always with great color!
Buddy get out of that new yarn!!!!! Such a little helper.

Crochet!!

I haven't crocheted in a while. And I don't do anything fancy. But my son's girlfriends sister just had a baby. And I have the time. (Still job hunting). It's almost done. I love the mint green color.

One problem.......Buddy likes it too!! Here he is checking out a piece of loose yarn.
He doesn't have front claws. So he picks it up in his teeth and runs!!!
Oh well, he's having fun. Have a good Labor Day weekend peeps! And always with great color!

Chair and Table Update

Hi all,
I thought long and hard last night and made up my mind. I'm going to leave the table and chairs off white. Honestly it sounded like too much work to change the stain. I can always change it later. I had enough fabric left to make a makeshift table scarf. My neighbor said I could put a white or lace tablecloth under it too. But for now I like it just like this. Love the great color!!

Diningroom Chair and Table Project

First the roses!
You can't even see the green bush. It's all rose blooms. So I had to take a picture. It's just so pretty!

Ok, now on to the chairs. This is a before picture.
Ugh! I'm so over the gold seats. So I started taking
off the layers of fabric. I had to take off two different
colors to get down to the base fabric. Buddy thought he would help me.

Really he doesn't look too interested does he. lol So here is a picture of the finished chairs. But I haven't attached them yet because I think I'm going to change the color of the chairs to a black stain. What do you think?? I do plan on in the future getting a change of carpet. Something much lighter and beige.

I will post updates as I finish things. May take a while. I will have to sand and stain. I'm just not too sure about the white wash chairs and table color. Would love input from anyone. I do like the light fresh look they have. But I want them to look more modern and less shabby chic. Here is a picture of my outdoors bistro table. See how the green and black look together. I really like the bright and dark together. Help me decide! Always love more color!

Good Shopping Trip

I'm all about a good buy. And good design. I decided I wanted to recover my dining room chair cushions. So I went shopping. I found this green fabric that I love! Kind of bright and cheery. I'm going through a green faze. I read where your primary color in your room should be 60 Percent. Like your walls. Then next color 30 percent and then last your pop of color 10 percent. And green is refreshing and nurturing to your whole well being. Green is the easiest color for all of us to live with. Use green when you want to make your home welcoming and gracious. These are my new Canisters that I picked up at Costco. I love them. I think they have a Tuscan feel.

Then I went into my bedroom to make it feel more like summer. I took off the darker green comforter and lighten it up. It feels good to me. lol

I have to share with you this cute jar I got. I like anything with a lid. I got this at Marshall's.
I also worked out on the patio decorating it some with new cushions. Now I'm pooped out and poor. But it was a great day.
Love ya all with great color!!
