Happy October and Fall Season!

I love Fall!!! The cool weather can't come too soon. No more frizzy hair! I love all the wonderful sents of fall also. Cinnamon and spice, Pumpkin, and Apple. I got out all my Halloween and Fall goodies and did some decorating! Everthing turned out cozy and warm. What do you think?
This is my kitchen bar. I love the green leaves placemats. My turkey plate was a Walmart find.
I like lots of leaves and pumpkins. Nothing too scary. Then it can carry over into Thanksgiving time.
Here is the living room. Got out the bright green spider blanket and pillow. They will go right after Halloween.
I like to drape the leaf garland over my intertainment center. I have tweaked things a bit more and added some cool lanterns that I picked up. All flowers and leaves are silk.
Enjoy the season and always with great color!!

Bookshelf Update

I wanted you all to see the finished bookshelf first. They were solid white. I kept seeing how people paint the backs of bookshelves, so I started thinking of things I could do. First I thought about paper. Like scrap book paper. They have such pretty prints. And I didn't after all want it to be a permanent thing. In case I changed my mind. But while looking at paper I decided it wasn't the way to go. I also thought of wallpaper. Which would be very cool. But I would need such a little bit. So while shopping at the 99cent store, I found this shelving paper. Contact paper!! And for only $4.00 got 4 rolls. Enough to do the project. Here is the begining.
It went on really easy.
Then I added back all the books and nick nacks.
I had two of them to do. I'm so pleased with how they turned out! And always with great color!

Bread Rack Redo!!

So today was finally sunny and beautiful enough to work on my Bread Rack - Potting Rack. I had gone to Home Depot and picked up Rubbed Bronze spray paint. Also some new flowers. After cleaning off the Bread Rack. Which was a charming brass and hunter green. Blah! I started the painting.
What a difference the paint made. It looks like a rod-iron piece now. I love it. I placed it near the enterance of my home. I'm still playing with placement of old things I had already. I also still need more plants or flowers. But it feels like a whole new piece. I like the bright green pots and silver can's with the daisy's!
So remember to not throw out some of your old piece's. Paint does wonders!! And always with great color!!!

Vintage Patio Chairs!!

I finally got the time to paint my Vintage patio chairs! If you remember I found them. They were on the curb to be picked up. Here is a picture of them when I found them.
I had to sand them down. Which I'm not the best at. But I tried to get them smooth.
Then I covered out back the ground with a plastic tarp. I turned them upside down and painted the back and bottom first. I decided to use a happy apple green.
I turned them right side up and sprayed painted the seat and back and arms.
I let them dry overnite. I spray painted the tubeing white. It was hard to do and I tried to mask off the green.
I had to turn them upside down to paint the bottoms. It was super hard not to get white on green. And I am no expert!!! But I'm happy with how it went.
Then Waa Laa they were done!!! I'm real happy with how they turned out.
Remember don't be afraid of great color!!!

Headboard or Art?

I've been going back an forth in my mind.....Do I want a headboard on my bed or a cool piece of art. When ever I'm looking at pictures or out shopping, I try and find ideas. Hum? Couldn't seem to find a painting with the right colors. In fact I was almost thinking of painting something myself. (Oh dear that's a scary thought). Then I was shopping at my favorite store Ross (of course). And there she was!!!! I still had questions in my mind. So I wandered over to Kohls. There she was again!!! At twice the price!!!! Of course I still wasn't sure.

I went home to think about it. And think, and think. Ok, after work I new I needed her. I went to my more local Ross and YEAH she was still there. I like the crystal's on this piece. They will go with my "S" that I just crafted. Since I'm going for a more girly look, it will fit right in. The mirror in the middle is bevealed also. I love it!! In case your not sure......The white is the cardboard box it is in.

Now which color should I paint the walls?? Tan or light grey blue?? Which do you think would look good behind my new art?

Of course Buddy had to have a look at himself in the mirror!!

And always with great color!!

Beautiful Cool Day

To day I awoke to sunshine. Yesterday was cloudy and grey all day. I'm so happy on my day off that it is beautiful out. This was the first day in a while that I didn't need to rush out and do anything. Woo Hoo!! So after eating breakfast and cutting some coupons, I decided to go on a bike ride. I love my beach cruiser!! She's a beauty!

So off I rode down the street. The cool breeze blowing in my hair. I rounded the corner and decided to pay one of my neighbors a visit. He decided to ride along. And off we started again. Waving at neighbors and stopping to say a friendly hello. As we came to the last street. I saw "them". Two beautiful vintage metal chairs. Out on the curb for large item pick up. Our trash company will pick up large items once in a while.

I went up to the homes front door and knocked. But no one was home. I wanted to be sure it was ok that I took them. Soon after that, here comes the junk truck. They didn't mind at all if we picked them up. Woo Hoo!!!

I love them. A little TLC and they will look great. There is nothing wrong with them, but a little rust and dirt. My son wasn't as happy with my find. But I think they are just not his style. And he hasn't seen them after I clean them and paint them.

Any suggestions on colors?? Maybe a Apple Green????

After my find. My son and his new fiance and I went out to lunch. We visited a little shop and Melanie got these crazy glasses. With a built-in mustache. She's so funny!!! She is going to pull them out at her next work meeting. hahaha

Here is a picture of the happy couple.

Hope everyone has a beautiful, relaxing day. And always with great color!!!

Bedroom Redo

It's been a while since I've written. Boy, I need to get back to blogging. I love it. Well, at Christmas time both of my grown children got engaged. This means I will be getting my master bedroom back. (In about a year lol) So I decided that I wanted a whole new look. Something cool and relaxing. My plan is to paint my old furniture black. Then use cool blue, silver, white and beige. Can you believe it? No green!! I still love love love green. But I want to try something different.

Here are some of the deals I got so far!!!

I had seen this vase at Ross. And went back to see if they still had it. Guess what!! It was on sale too!! Then I found these great silver candle sticks.

After looking around some more I found this comforter set. It was on sale for $16.99!!! Can you believe it??? It's a seven piece set!

My sister and I had found this lamp base at Target. Normally $54.00 on sale for $37.99 plus I had gift cards!!

So now I just need a lamp shade and paint. Not sure what color to do the walls. Either the pale blue or beige. And what color candles to get. Oh, gosh I will need some art!!!! Any suggestions about what to paint or curtain ideas????? Please let me know.

Well, it should keep me busy all year while I wait for the weddings and my room back.
I think this will all be off limits to Buddy the cat!!

Hope every one's new year is fabulous and always with great color!!

New Chair and Christmas!

Ok, I inherited this sad little chair from my parents. It had cracks and repairs all over it. But it does have memories. So I went to work repairing and painting. Lot's of sanding and about 3 coats of white paint and WaLa.
Now here is a question. The whole time I had plans to paint it with a Damask Design. Maybe green like my walls or black. Should I just leave it white? Or try and paint a design on the white??
Then it was time to decorate for Christmas. Man! I ran out of energy quickly. My sis Dancing in the Dark and Peanut made a trip to Tai Pan Trading Co. It's like a fairy wonderland of Christmas trees. We had a blast and got lots of cool ideas.
So here is my finished tree.
Here in the kitchen I filled my glass container with Christmas balls and decorated with ribbon!
Of course Buddy had to help with decorating the tree!! I will be finding balls all around!!
Have a great Holiday!! And always with great color!

Yeah Finished!

Finished the Camo lap throw today. Just in time. Almost ran out of yarn. I like the way it turned out. Buddy seems to like it too. It has given me something to do while my back is getting better. I threw it out about two weeks ago. Don't know what I did. But I guess sometimes we just move wrong. Sometimes I sure hate getting older. And dang it I had a birthday right in the middle of a painful week. Didn't help the getting old feeling. Oh well, I'm getting better slowly. I guess life just throws bumps in the road sometimes. Here's a smooth spot. My sister (Dancing in the Dark) gave me this beautiful yarn bag. I love it!!!! It's green!! She also hand spun me some yarn. I need to make my next project something special!! She's so dear to me, My bestest friend! Here is a pic of it!
I also got a great gift from my daughter. A beautiful wall decoration. Words that are like stickers. But when applied they appear almost to be painted on. I know these words speak the truth. Even though sometimes we don't agree on things. I hope she will remember that Families are everything and deserve respect. I placed this above my buffet in the dinning room. What do you think?
Always with great color!

Poor hot Buddy!

Poor Buddy. He doesn't like this hot weather we are having! So he's back to taking his naps on the glass coffee table. I just had my hair cut for the summer. And I think I will have to get him a hair cut this summer also.

Latest decor idea. I had this large jar. I decided to fill is full of pasta. What do you think? I did have it full of fake limes. But I wanted a change. Now that I'm home more I've been cleaning out cupboards. Yes, finally got the kitchen cupboard cleaned. And the hall linen closet. That was not fun. How do we save so much stuff???

Garden update!

Look I have a strawberry!!

I'm doing the Happy Dance!!!! Really, I'm excited to see things growing. lol
Now look at my bell pepper!!

It's getting bigger!! I just hope they don't overheat with this hot weather. It's crazy hot! Making my morning walks sweaty and uncomfortable. But I keep plowing along. Just have to eat more ice cream. Right?? I've doing lots of thinking about life and God's plan for me. I'm seeing that he takes me through some things to teach me patience. Also so I will appreciate when the good things come along. Whether they are people, jobs, home, gardens or almost anything. At least I am learning and growing as a person. Which even at my age I can still do! Love your family and friends, coworkers, and enemies. They are all a part in God's plan for you and me. And don't pass up the opportunities to tell people how special they are to you. Love you all. And always with great color!

Changed it again

I can't make up my mind. I have beige plates too. So I used the small green salad plates on top and beige cups. I might like this even better. What do you think??

Curvy!

Ok, I was browsing around online and checking out table settings. Yes! I know some things weird interest me. But they were using all kinds of different objects and had some great ideas. So I have so many plates and place mats that I got the bug.
I had just some woven beige place mats. I replaced them with these chargers that I had. They add texture. They I picked my standard everyday green plates. Cause I have to have my pop of green! I would have placed a salad plate on top. But mine are green and it would be too much green so I just added a fancy set of mugs that I love. The lighter color kind of grounded it to the counter top. Then I looked for napkins. Flowered? No, too much with the flowers on the mugs. So I stuck to plain green ones. I had found a cute set of chicken (of course) napkin rings. I wanted to put them somewhere so I just set them on the plates. I changed out my glass fruit bowl for a iron one and Tah Dah! What do you think?? It's a nice change.

Not sure if you can see. But I have other pops of green in the kitchen also. I was thinking........ I think my style is curvy. Everything I like has curves to it. The curve of round glass, rod iron, a couch or chair back. I think it just adds to being cozy. As Modern style is more straight lines. They can be mixed. Why not? Style is whatever makes you feel comfort and peace. Mine is earth tones with pops of green. And with Buddy and kids. Gotta have peace!
